Hello bloggers,
Today I am going to talk to you about an organisation called The World Wildlife Fund. This organisation was made in 1961. It is made for saving endangered animals.
The freshwater seals are an endangered species and they are born in holes in the snow. But if there are no holes they are born on land which is dangerous because of predators.
WWF has been clearing the snow and digging some holes so the seals don't get attacked by predators and go extinct.
Seals were near extinction. But it was a big success. They made the seal population rise so much higher. Thanks to the World Wildlife Fund organisation freshwater seals didn't go extinct.
Thank you for coming to my blog. Please give me feedback. Have you saved an animal? Comment it. BYE!!
Talofa Vitaraag,
ReplyDeleteYou have picked up on lots of the information that was shared. WWF is doing an important job to protect these Seal Pups from the dangers that surround them. Rather than holes, they are called snowbanks.
Perhaps next time you could add some information about the tools they use to build to help clear snow and build snowbanks in order to protect the Freshwater Seal Pups and help them survive. What do you think would happen if the WWF did not build these snow banks?
I am concerned about how little the numbers are for Freshwater Seals. It reminds me of our treasured bird, the Kakapo who are also an endangered species. Do you know of any other endangered species in Aotearoa? Let me know in the comment section below.
