Hello bloggers
Today we are going to talk about my most favorite NZ bird. My most favorite bird is a kiwi. The most liked bird in NZ for this year is the kererū.
Most kiwis live on rough farmlands. They are endangered animals. Kiwis normally eat a variety of worms as well as small crayfish, amphibians and eels. The kiwi is the only type of bird in the world to have nostrils at the end of their beak.
It is endangered and it has brown feathers and can not fly at all. People are hoping that the kiwi population goes up. If it doesn't it will become extinct. They are nocturnal birds.
I do not own this picture. All credit goes to google search.
Thank you for coming to my blog. Please give me feedback. BYE!!
Hi Vitaraag,
ReplyDeleteIt's Leslie here, reading your blog from my home in Canada as a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.
You've done a super job of posting a beautiful photo of a Kiwi (I'm thinking that this is an immature Kiwi) and giving information about where it lives, the food it eats etc. Have you ever had a chance to see a Kiwi in the wild? You'd have to be out and about at night to do so, of course.
I suspect they're very skittish birds, quick to move away if they hear someone coming their way. It's such a shame that their numbers have been so low. I hope the efforts to provide more safe habitat for them will result in their population rising.
I've visited your country and I've been in awe of the beauty of many of your birds. They seem much more colourful, in general, than those we have in the part of Canada in which I live. But my favourite Canadian bird is a Loon which is one of our water birds. It's also one of our national symbols.
I hope you'll keep up your excellent work on these activities.
I'll continue to read your blog!
Cheers,
Leslie
