Summer Learning Journey Activity 3 Day 3 Week 2

Hello bloggers,
Today we are going to talk about a math question. The question is you need to move a squid that weighs 500kg. A parent can carry 25 kg and a kid can carry 15 kg. How much parents and kids will it take to carry the squid to a different aquarium.

I will answer this question by doing times. For example I will do 25 x 7 and if that is higher than 500kg then we lower the 7 to lets say 4 and you keep on doing that until you get 500kg. The real answer is that you need 20 adults because 25 x 20 = 500. There are multiple answers.
Here is a Screencastify

I can see that you've used multiplication to try and solve the problem, you increased the number if times you would multiply 25 until you got close to 500. 20 adults could very well carry the squid in the question. As you said there are multiple answers, however, the activity is asking you to how many adults AND children it would take to lift and transport the squid.

Please edit your post to include an answer that includes children carrying the squid with the adults and don't forget to show your working out! I will be happy to award you full points for this activity once you have done so. :)

It would definitely be quite a task to lift and transport that giant squid! If I had the chance to help out I would, I've always been very curious about creatures found in the deep sea.. If you could help would you?

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.
