Activity One Summer learning Journey

Hello bloggers,
Today I am going to tell you top 3 facts about NZ. The north island of NZ formed because of Maui (a demigod). Maui's brothers went out for fishing planning not to bring Maui. But Maui hid in the canoe and waited until they were far from home Maui jumped out from his hiding place and paddled. He used the magical jawbone from his grandmother to fish out the north island and went to get something. His brothers sliced the fish and it made bumps which are now what we call hills. The south island of NZ is Maui's canoe

Scientists believe that NZ is around 50 million years old. They say it formed because of a super continent called Gondwana broke apart and one of the pieces of land was NZ.
Top 3 facts

  1. Sir Edmund Hillary was the fist to climb Mt Everest and he was a New Zealander.
  2. New Zealand won the first rugby world cup in 1987
  3. The smallest dolphin in the world is the Hector dolphin and is only found in NZ
Bonus fact : NZ is also home to the only flightless parrot the Kakapo.

Thanks for checking out my blog. Please give me feedback. Make sure to check my blog once a day to be updated on my holidays.

  1. Kia ora Vitaraag,

Congratulations on completing your very first activity for this years Summer Learning Journey programme. I am very excited to see all of your activities over the summer. We have already had around 140 activities completed in Ako Hiko over the last two days. How incredible is that. I am sure you and Gargee will be very competitive over the summer.

What a great start you have made by completing such a fascinating posts. I really like how you have included other interesting facts through your own research. This is incredible initiative you have shown Vitaraag. Wow, isn't amazing that New Zealand is believed to have formed around 50 million years ago. What do you think New Zealand looked like by then and what do you think lived on our beautiful land? Where did you find the fact about the Kakapo and the creation of New Zealand?

Maybe next time you could include a link to the website where you source information from. This means that I can go and do my own research after learning so much from your blog post.

Keep up the incredible work Vitaraag, I cannot wait to read more interesting posts from you over the summer.

I hope you are enjoying your holidays,
    Megan :)
