Hello bloggers,
Nelson Mandela was an amazing person. He was born and raised in South Africa. People with white skin got more advantage. Nelson thought this was terrible and wanted to make things right. He protested and sadly soon ended up in prison for 27 years. Amazingly, after this long period of time he became the president of South Africa. Sadly he died in 2013. Here is an entry of a journal I made up of Nelson Mandela.
Year 2 Month July Day 17
Ewwwwww!! The toilet has poo all over it. My straw bed is falling apart and I can't even wash my hands. I wish I was out of prison. My feet are numb. I have no blanket and I have to do labour. I am starting to feel like my finger prints are fading. My blood cells are dying. My stomach is growling. This might be the last sound I will hear. If it is, my last words are I love my family!!!!

I like that you have included at the top of today’s activity a little blurb about Nelson Mandela, who he was, what he did and what you feel about him.
I really enjoyed reading your journal entry about how you would feel if you were Mandela in that jail for 5 years. You have written this journal entry with so much detail and I like that you acknowledged that his last words would be “I love my family” because he was such a family man.
Did you know that he had six children and twenty grandchildren? What a legacy he left behind for them.

ReplyDeleteI liked how you said that Nelson Mandela was an amazing person because he protested against apartheid. I also liked how, for your diary entry, you wrote about someone's poo being everywhere and what the conditions are like in prison. Do you know what apartheid means?
