Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 2 Activity 2

Namaste and hello bloggers,
I'm back with some more of the Summer Learning Journey. New Zealand is an amazing country. Have you ever wondered who was the first to find this exceptional place. Well, lots of people recognise Kupe as the first person to find and explore New Zealand. He did so in 1300. As in the previous blog post, he used the Polynesian way find skill to navigate him here. The Maori people shortly moved into this new country. Around 343 years later, a dutch adventurer know as Abel Tasman accidentally came across this place. Since his civilisation didn't know about this country he thought this was an unexplored and new country. I was asked to talk about my home town. My hometown is Logan Utah, in the US, but I am from Nepal. Basically I was born in Utah and my parents and older brother are from Nepal. I will mainly talk about Nepal.

Nepal is an amazing place to go on for holiday. It has the tallest mountain in the world and has the only non rectangular shaped flag. Personally I have never been to Nepal, so I don't have a lot of information myself. Nepal is located between China and India. The language there is Nepali, but people use some English words. Did you know that the deepest gorge on earth (Or it's called that) is found in Nepal. Even though there are other lakes immensely bigger than this, it is still named the deepest gorge on earth. Our culture has over 33 million gods. Which one do they pray to? The capital of Nepal is Kathmandu. Nepal is in Asia.

Utah was where I was, since I was born. It was the 45th state to ever be part of the US. The capital is Salt lake city. The capital is called Salt lake city because the largest lake in the Mississippi is the Salt lake. 2002 was when Utah hosted the winter Olympics. All mountain produce about 500 inches of snow.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post if you have any feedback please lave it in the comments. Where did you and your family come from? BYE!!

  1. Namaste Vitaraag,

Wow, ka pai on an awesome post this morning. Thank you for completing your second activity this week for the Summer Learning Journey, keep up the hard mahi!

Thank you for sharing about your culture and where you and your family come from. I also really enjoyed reading about the further research you did about Kupe and what you’ve shared about New Zealand. I think it is so cool that you were born in Utah, when did you and your family move to New Zealand?

I like that you have acknowledged Nepal and talked about the country with heaps of detail even though you have never been there. I have never been there either but it is definitely on my bucket list. Thank you for sharing all the fun facts you have gathered about Nepal and Utah, it is so awesome that you know so much about where your from, I think your blog viewers will enjoy learning more about these places.

My family and I were all born in New Zealand but we are Samoan, Moari and Tongan. I have never visited these places but I would love to one day. Do you think you and your family will go and visit Nepal some day, altogether?

I hope you have a marvellous day,
    Kueni :)

  3. Hi Vitaraag,
I liked how you said that Nepal is an amazing place to go on holiday because of the huge mountains (Like Mount Everest) and a deep gorge. I also liked how you gave a lot of extra information on it like, how many gods there are in Nepal. Would you want to live there?
