Summer Learning Journey Activity 3 Day 5 Week 3

Hello bloggers,
Today we are going to talk about acid rain. Acid rain is very bad for the environment. I have to imagine that it was an acid storm and we stayed inside for 3 day and 3 nights. After the storm we decided to take a look and now we have to write a story of what we saw.

We stepped outside and all the plants were dead! Trees were falling animals were tasting the acid water and running away crying. Ponds were neon green and slimy. Houses fell to the ground like nothing. Green water was falling form the jungle trees. People weer running as fast as they can because they touched acid water. Not even one animal or human was outside except us. Our crops were all dead. Our dog was so scared he started hugging us.

Thank you for coming to my blog. Please give me feedback. BYE!!

  1. Hi Vitaraag,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.

Oh dear, what a tragic picture you've painted with your story. Unfortunately, if we really did have a full-blown acid rain storm, your description might be accurate. EEk!

We have had some concerns about acid rain in my country, Canada. A number of years ago we noticed that some of the fish in our lakes were dying and so was the vegetation in the lakes. When the water was tested it was discovered that it had become more acidic. This was the cause of the trouble. Then we had to identify why this was happening and it was soon discovered that the cause was acid rain. Our industries were dumping smoke into the air that was full of chemicals which, when combined with the vapour in the air, made acid.

Now our industries have to change the type of chemicals they use, they have to have scrubbers on their smoke stacks to filter out harmful chemicals before they are released into the air and our car manufacturers have to ensure that our new cars are less polluting than our old ones.

Solutions are possible, to avoid acid rain, we just have to work on them!

I hope you enjoyed this opportunity to use your imagination and create a story. Keep up your good work!!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
