Summer Learning Journey Activity 2 Day 5 Week 4

Hello bloggers,
Today we are going to talk about adoption day. Adoption Day is hen we adopt animals to save their life. I have to choose three animals and compare and contrast them and after that I have tot write down which on I would adopt.

I choose Eagle, a Macaw, and Read tailed hawk. They are similar because they all can fly and are a type of bird. All of them have a beck. They are different because of there color. They are also different because they have different techniques to hunt. They are all reptiles. They are all birds. I would like to adopt the Eagle because I love eagles and they look so cool and has done nothing wrong.

Thank you for coming to my blog. Please give me feedback. Who would you adopt? Comment it. BYE!!

  1. Kia Ora Vitaraag!

It's Amanda here from Edmund Hillary School, it's good seeing lots of students contributing and having fun during the holidays because of the Summer Learning Journey Programme, right?

It's so different to see someone select an eagle to adopt which is a good thing of course! I'd adopt the Hector's Dolphin because I think not that many people would bother to adopt it since it's A DOLPHIN but these endangered species deserve the respect they need.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday :)

    Thanks,
    Amanda

  4. Hi Vitaraag,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. You've chosen an interesting combination of birds for 'adoption'. They have flight in common, as you say but what and how they hunt is different.

You've mentioned that they're 'reptiles', but they're not, actually. I thought that perhaps you thought they all eat reptiles, but that's not true for Macaws. So, I'm not sure what you were thinking in that regard.

I can say that another similarity between 2 of the birds is that the Red-tailed Hawk and the Bald Eagle and Golden Eagle live in Canada. I've had the opportunity to see all 3 of them in the wild - strong birds!! But we don't have Macaws because we are too far north.

Eagles are greatly admired, particularly by our First nations people. They have special significance and are a part of their mythologies in many cases.

I'm glad that you've looked into the World Wildlife Fun website to see the many many projects they fund, the many many animals they advocate for. Knowledge is power!!

I hope you're having a super summer day. Keep up your great efforts!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
