Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 4 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
Banksy is a talented England artist which is secretive. He is so secretive that no person knows much about him. He does art in secrecy. He is actually a street artist. Art is not always just some drawing. Sometimes art can make a pathway. I mean like it is telling a story. For example, in Christchurch an earthquake hit and destroyed many things. So many things that some buildings still need to be repaired to this day. Street artists in Christchurch decided to paint pictures of a beautiful sky, so peoples spirits would be raised. I checked out the Christchurch Street Art website of the earthquake. I now have to choose two of the pictures I want from there. After that I have to identify the similarities and differences between the both of them. Here is my explanation and pictures.

The Similarities:They are both most likely graffiti art (I think). Both of them have blue. All of them are really detailed.
The Differences: One of them has way more designs on it. One of them has the whole picture covered up. One of them has different colours. They mean different things.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Would you like to be a street artist? BYE!!

  1. Kia ora Vitaraag,

My name is Laura and I work for the Summer Learning Journey. I have just heard from Megan that you have finished the whole programme! Wow - congratulations! I also know you did very well last year with it too!

I wanted to leave you a comment on this activity as I liked the comparison you had made between these two examples of street art. They are amazing aren't they? You're right, they are both very detailed. I believe that often street art is done with spray cans of paint. I can't really imagine how hard it is to create such detailed paintings with spray paint, can you?

It would be really interesting to see how the artists plan their paintings - do you think they draw them first, or know what they want them to look like in their heads?

Congratulations again on finishing the Summer Learning Journey. I hope you will spend some time commenting on other SLJ student work.

    Best wishes,
    Laura

  2. Greetings Vitaraag! I personally think street art is really cool, and amazing to look at - it definitely adds pop and flavor to places. There is a lot all around New Zealand as well, have you seen them before? I also really like the two that you chose, though my favorite would be the first one. Nice job!

  3. Hi Vitaraag,
I liked how you gave some interesting similarities and differences the street art pieces have, like how they're both very detailed and that one of them has a lot more in it. Would you want to create art like that one day?
