Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 5 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
Sadly the Summer Learning Journey is coming to an end. This is the last activity. After this, all I have to do is comment on other people's blog. So for the last activity I have to choose my favourite activity from the whole Summer Learning Journey, my least favourite, three things I learned and what would I do to improve the Summer Learning Journey. Here are my decisions.

  1. I really like this activity I am doing right now! I like it because it is the last activity and I get to share my thoughts on the Summer Learning Journey. I also like this activity because after this I get to comment and view other people's blogs and what they are up to.
  2. My least favourite one was... NONE OF THEM. You heard me loud and clear ladies and gentlemen. None of the activities really bugged me out or anything. Sure some of them took a lot of time but you don't always have to rush. All of them were enjoyable and I learned a lot.
  3. The three things I learned are that even though New Zealand is a small country we have a lot of talented people, including Aaradhna, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Parris Goebal, Steven Adams and much more. The second fact is that most people that are famous had to struggle to get to where they are today. For example LeBron James. He grew up without his dad. The third one is that Nelson Mandela served 27 years in prison for fighting for African Americans and the BOOM he became the president.
  4. I feel like the Summer Learning Journey never had any issues with me. I feel like they shouldn't change anything.

I hope you enjoyed my Journey though these 60 activities. I enjoyed them so much. Sadly next year I won't be able to participate as I am going to be going to another school which doesn't compete in the Summer Learning Journey. Over the next couple days I may edit some of my activities. I really enjoyed this. Overall this journey has taught me so many things that I usually would never find out. A special thank you to the Summer Learning Journey team for this extraordinary opportunity. BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( ðŸ˜”

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 5 Activity 2

Hello bloggers,
Misty Copeland is a world famous ballet. She started learning ballet when she was 3 - 4 years old! At the age of 13 she started taking ballet lessons. Amazingly, at the age of 14 she had won a national competition for ballet dancer. Keep in mind that there were also a lot of other people involved in this competition. Another one of her accomplishments were that in 2015 she became the first African American to be the leader of the American ballet theatre. During an interview with her she said a inspirational quote which was 'see dreams through me'. So for this activity I went on a website that had a lot of quotes. I chose one. Here it is.

This basicially means if you can dream big than you are already better than smart people.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. I got the backround picture from labeled for reuse. Have you heard of this quote? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 5 Activity 1

Hello bloggers,
Parris Goebal is a phenomenal dancer. She is kinda famous in New Zealand. If you have not heard of her then I will explain. She was born in Manurewa, South New Zealand. In her younger years she was really intrigued with dance. When she was 10 she took hip hop lessons. At the age of 15 she was amazing. She was so good that she started her own crew named ReQuest. She went on to win several hip hop championships. After this she started many new crews that also won many awards worldwide. She also worked with other famous musicians. So for this activity I watched their award winning performance. I have to state my opinion. Here it is.

I was amazed. Like I though that the thing I just watched wasn't humanly possible. I really like how all of them we spot on time. I also like how they did an action that related to the music. They also had matching costumes. Another thing that is amazing is that they had a really big group of people. That added to make a really good affect. I feel like they don't really need to improve anything. One thing that I thing that they should do is like add a story line or something like that. (That is just my opinion).

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. if you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Do you agree with me? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 4 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
Banksy is a talented England artist which is secretive. He is so secretive that no person knows much about him. He does art in secrecy. He is actually a street artist. Art is not always just some drawing. Sometimes art can make a pathway. I mean like it is telling a story. For example, in Christchurch an earthquake hit and destroyed many things. So many things that some buildings still need to be repaired to this day. Street artists in Christchurch decided to paint pictures of a beautiful sky, so peoples spirits would be raised. I checked out the Christchurch Street Art website of the earthquake. I now have to choose two of the pictures I want from there. After that I have to identify the similarities and differences between the both of them. Here is my explanation and pictures.

The Similarities:They are both most likely graffiti art (I think). Both of them have blue. All of them are really detailed.
The Differences: One of them has way more designs on it. One of them has the whole picture covered up. One of them has different colours. They mean different things.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Would you like to be a street artist? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 4 Activity 2

Hello bloggers,
Fatu Feu'u is a Samoan artist who create amazing pieces of art. Even though he is an artist he still creates things like sculptors and much more. He really enjoys making tapacloths. Different countries have different styles of tapacloths. For example In Tonga it is called the ngatu, in Fiji the masi, in Niue  the hiapo, in the Cook Islands - the tapa, and in Hawaii the kapa. So the activity asked me to invent my own type of tapacloth. So here it is.

On the outside there are flowers. they represent earth an nature. The long sticks of green are grass. The person in the middle represents to take care of everything.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Do you like my tapacloth? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 4 Activity 1

Hello bloggers,
Coco Chanel was a french clothes fashion designer around the early 1900s. She was very inspiring because she created clothes for women that look phenomenal and were very comfortable. Before this amazing invention European women had to wear clothes that pulled up their waist and overall was terrible. Coco used the men fashion for the base of the women's clothes. Twenty Seven Names is a company that still is around. They are founded by two best friend known as Rachel Easting and Anjali Burnett. Both of them met at primary school. Soon Rachel studied Art and Anjali studied Fashion. It wasn't long after that they made an amazing foundation. Sometimes they employ young women so that their foundation never dies. So I read an article and found out how Twenty Seven Names got their name. (That sentence is ironic). So I will explain how they got their name and if I think they should change their name or not. Here it is.

So originally in 2006 their name was Love Lies Bleed. Soon they figured out that another company had used that name. Since they didn't want to be copyrighted, all of the workers there wrote down one name they thought would be good. They couldn't decide one, but then they realised that there were 27 names. So that is where they got their name from. I feel like they shouldn't change the name because those 27 workers helped them to achieve them their goals and come up with a unique name with a funny story.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Do you like the name Twenty Seven Names? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 3 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
Julian Dennison is a young boy which has starred in many films and ads. He is from Lower Hutt around Wellington. Surprisingly, he is only 17 years old. As I said he is still in a lot of movies and commercials. He has been in the Lynx ads and has been in The Hunt for WilderPeople, Deadpool etc. Even though he is in a lots of ads he has also done things to help others. For example he has travelled to Uganda with the World Vision team to support the people who had to leave because of wars. So for this activity I have to decide whether or not I should be like Julian Dennison and travel to help the people. Here is my opinion.

I definitely would go. Here is why. Firstly, I could meet new people and maybe make some new friends. Secondly, I would go because what if I was in the same situation that they are in, I would want someone to take my bad thoughts out of my head. Thirdly, I can know how these people live and what they have to experience. Hopefully I will be able to go. Even though I can't help everyone in the world If I help at least one person to them it could mean the world.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Would you join the World Vision team? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 3 Activity 2

Hello bloggers,
Lupita Nyong’o is a Kenyan actress. She was one of her mum's six children. In her younger ages she wanted to be an actress. Once she graduated from high school she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. To do this she had to move to the United States. In 2008 (The first movie she played in) she was in a movie called East River. People loved her acting and soon became a superstar. After that she was an Oscar Award for her hard work. Not only did she win and Oscar Award, but she was also the first Kenyan person to win the award. Amazingly, she was in lots of other movies like Black Panther, 12 day etc. The activity asks me to plan my own movie and what will be the things like the problem.

I feel like I want the movie to be called The Banana, Stinky, Radioactive, Eruption, Duck, Feathers Leaf Invasion. Literally. Anyways, The characters are Stink Sock, Lazy Cat, Fat Banana and Donald Smurf. What happens is Fat Banana was doing an experiment with some water and soap. The mixture accidentally goes on his banana leaves. It got wet so he wiped it with a tissue. Suddenly the leave started getting larger. Then it was going to take over the world. All the characters merged together and made a big pig. The pig sadly died and they struggled to survive. After this they figured out that Fat Banana was just planting new banana seeds instead of some cherries. Some radioactive ducks explode and everyone is now a duck. THE END!

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Would you watch this movie? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 3 Activity 1

Hello bloggers,
Oprah Winfrey is a screen legend. That basically means that she always appears on TV.  She is famous for many reasons, but the most known one is her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show. Amazingly, that show ran for about 25 years. WOW! That is older than I am (Obviously). Most of the time she likes to help people. Anyways, she has became really successful, but had to work hard for it. This just goes to show that even though she faced many hard times and challenges she persevered and became the person she is today. Currently Oprah is very keen on education. She believes in the power of learning. In fact she set up her own school. It is in South Africa. It is called Oprah Winfrey Leadership School for Girls. On to the activity, this time I have to share what my future plans are for the future. Here is my thoughts.

I think I would love to be a scientist. Although I would love to be a scientist I would also like to have my own YouTube channel. First I would not drop out of high school. I would continue until I finish high school. After that I would make a YouTube channel. In my other blog post I shared what I would do on my YouTube channel. So go and check it out (Week 3 Day 1 Activity 2). I would upload once a day if not 3 times a week to keep my viewers entertained. During these extra hours I would go to college and university and study to become a scientist.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. What do you be? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 2 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
Jessica Mauboy is a really famous Aboriginal Australian singer. She ascended to fame when she performed in 2006 at American Idol in 2006. She has a number of best selling songs. Other people also know her as a role model for other women. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is another female singer who is Maori. Both of these people are kind of the same thing. One different thing is that Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was adopted when she was a little and knows basically nothing about her family. This just goes to show that thy had to overcome bad things and became what they are today. The activity says to choose a role model for you and explain why they are a role model. Here is my explanation

My role model is my dad. My dad is a type of scientist named a chemist. The reason he is a role model for me is because helps me with a lot of things. For example with my learning. My dad wants me to be successful, so he always teaches me things above the standard I am meant to be at. Another thing he does is tells me about when he was like me and how he used to be good at sports and academic things. These stories motivates me to do even better than I do now. That is my explanation.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please don't be afraid to leave it in the comments. Who is a role model for you? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 2 Activity 2

Hello bloggers,
BTS is a really known group of seven boys for being the best selling artist in South Korea. They are all from Korea. They have sold millions of copies of music albums to South Korea. Not only have they made achievements in Korea in the US they have topped the chart as well. Before they used to do hip hop style music, but now do K-pop (Korean Pop). These songs they make are sometimes motivational. Since they were amazing people they were in YouTube Rewind 2019. So they activity says to watch a video and state your opinion if you like BTS or not. Here is my explanation.

I really like BTS. Here is why. First of all they are Korean. That is not the amazing part, the amazing part is that they are famous. This just goes to show that no matter who you are or where you come from you have the opportunity to be famous. Even though they are famous that doesn't mean they don't have to work hard. They have worked really hard to get where they are today. Currently they are still working hard to think of new song ideas and things like that. So that is why I like BTS.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Do you like BTS? Why or why not? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 1 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
Anne Frank was a girl that was alive during world war 2. Her family had to hide in a secret compartment in their house for two whole years. Being isolated in a secret room would be boring. That is why to pass the time Anne Frank wrote in this diary about her days in the secret room. She would write about hiding from the Germans. Later after the world war her dad found this diary and decided to publish it. Now the book title is The Diary Of Anne Frank or The Diary of a Young Girl. I actually have a real diary. So the activity says to write an entry of a diary of the best day ever. Here it is.

Dear diary,
Today was weird and fun. I woke up and found green juice on the floor. After that my cabinets were empty. Then my car wasn't anywhere to be seen. Suddenly, I saw a spaceship abducting my things. I took a picture and a video. I saved he video and showed the world. We realised that once a year on July 18 the aliens would come and raid someones house. That house this year was mine. The next year the aliens came to my neighbours house and tried the raid them. The police trapped them and I became famous.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Have you read Anne Frank's diary? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 1 Activity 2

Hello bloggers,
William Shakespeare is known to be on the best authors in the world. He has written play, movies, poems and books. For example he has written books call Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, King Lear and much more. Although he wrote these books in English it was not the same English that we use today. He used the old English that was used around the 1600s. So for the activity I was asked to write a recount on what I did in the morning today and use regular English. Then I put my recount in an converter that converts your English to old English. Here is my recount.

At the crack of dawn my eyes adjusted to the sun floating above me. I quickly put on fresh clothes and took a shower. My brain reminded me that I have to do the Summer Learning Journey. I bolted to my Chromebook and started writing this very blog post.

Here is the old English one.

At the cracketh of dawn mine own eyes did adjust to the travelling lamp floating above me.  I apace putteth on green robes and tooketh a showeth'r.  Mine own brain remind'd me yond i has't to doth the summ'r learning journey.  I bolt'd to mine own chromebook and did start writing this v'ry blog posteth

Hello bloggers,
J.K. Rowling is known as one of the best, if not the best author in the world. Before her books were published she was a single mum. She hardly had any money to take care of everyone. When her children were asleep she would write. The first book she published took over six years to finish. Even though everyone reads Harry Potter nowadays, Back then she though not lots of people would check it out. She thought boys would not read the book so instead of writing her real name she wrote J.K. (Joanne Rowling). The book grew in popularity. Since this happened she continued writing these books. The activity says to design a book cover for my favourite book. My favourite book is called Miss Daisy Is Still Crazy. So here is the book cover I designed.

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 5 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
I have finally made it to the end of week 3. I get the choice to choose a scientist or inventor that has changed the world. The person that I have chosen has got multiple jobs. One of the jobs is a scientist. Here is why I chose him.

  1. I chose Stephen Hillenburg. You might think he is not a scientist. Suprisingly, he is.
  2. He is a American animator, voice actor and a marine scientist. He is well known for being the creator of Spongebob Squarepants.
  3. He has made an impact on the world. He has made a TV series and has inspired many people. Even though he dosen't work fulltime for a scientist he is still considered one. People who have had a bad day can easily watch spongebob for a nice and comedic way. Spongebob even has movies. Sadly, Stephen Hillenburg died in 2018 in November because of a disease. Just in gerneral I love spongebob.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. Who is a scientist or inventor you look up to? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 5 Activity 2

Hello bloggers,
Caine's Arcade is not like any other arcade, it is hand made by a child, going by the name Caine Monroy. His dad owned a warehouse. Everyday he would go to the warehouse with him. Sometimes he got bored so he decided to make an arcade. Amazingly, he made his arcade with cardboard scraps from his dad. Caine's arcade included many games. They are very cheap. For example for a fun pass it is 2 dollars. If that wasn't enough then he found out a way of validating a fun pass. He stuck calculators to the back of every game. On the fun pass there is numbers. If you multiply the numbers together it will end up with the decimal number on the fun pass. Many people ignored this person, but one man checked out his creation. He thought Caine was a genius. So he sent out letters, tweets, posts and much more informing all the people of LA to come and check this arcade. After this he had so many people who wanted to play his arcade games. So now I was asked to say what my favourite game is. Here it is.

Well my favourite game is called chess. Chess is a very strategizing game. People who play this game are one of the most smartest people in the world. (In terms of IQ). So it is a board game. It is a 2 player game. There are 6 pieces. There is the pawn. The pawn is a piece that can only move forward once. The rook and move forward and much as is wants or on its side as much as it wants. The knight moves in a L shape and can jump over units. The bishop can only move diagonal, but they can do it as much as they want. The queen can move diagonal and forward or sideways as much as it wants. The king is like the queen, but it can only move one square at a time. If you want to learn the game in more deatail search it up.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. What is your favourite game? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 5 Activity 1

Hello bloggers,
Have you every heard of things like the Ministry of health , education etc? Well if you don't here is what they do. They are people who give sugestions to the government. That was a really small explanation. Anyways, there is a Ministry called the Ministry of Inspiration. This Minstry is all about getting kids more into STEAMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Society). It is held in Nelson, New Zealand. They have many fun activities, but none are as popular as the aquabot competetion. This is basicially where you control robots underwater. On with the activity, I watched a video about pasifika aquabots. I was asked to decide whether or not I would join a underwater robotics team. Here is my explanation.

I would 100% join an underwater robotics team. Firstly, I would probably never have this opportunity offered to me again, and you should always take the opportunity if you're able to. Secondly, it is an amazing chance to learn something other people might not know, like how to control and manoeuver robots underwater! Thirdly, it would be really, really fun. It might be difficult at some times, but then that is a chance to learn new things and experience something exciting and different.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback, please dont hesitate to leve it down in the comments. Would you take this opportunity, why or why not? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 4 Activity 3

Hello bloggers,
Mental health is a really important aspect. Mental health is bascially the way we feel to ourself. Sometimes we can't control our mental health. Mental health weakness can be caused because of things that have been happening in our life. Some people have taken the time to speak up about mental health. This includes Mike King and John Kirwan. They are New Zealanders. The decided to help people with these kinds of problems. These people have made the descision to start a foundation to help those with these sorts of problems. They both made their own foundations. I will be talking about Mike King's one. That is called The Key of Life. So, on to the activity, I was asked to pretend that they sent a letter to us saying to make a poster of their foundation. So here is a poster I came up with.

I made this poster. I don't have much text so people won't get bored reading it. Mainly I used rainbow colours so it stands out and people can see it easily. I tried to make everything symmetrical. In the middle I put a picture of the person who started the foundation.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. The photo I used was from labeled for reuse. Would you support this foundation? BYE!!

Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 4 Activity 2

Happy New Year bloggers,
Dr Lance O'Sullivan has commited his life to save other people's. I don't mean sacrificies himself for other people. I mean he uses his time to help others. He has a wife named Lance. Together they have began many amazing projects. That includes the MOKO foundation. This is a foundation that provides school based clinics with amazing care, by care I mean things like sanitary. Another foundation they have started is simalar to the last one. It is called IMOKO. The only thing that is similar is their name. The IMOKO foundation is meant to help places without doctors. So, if they have any unknown things that they need to find out they take a picture of it and send it to the IMOKO place. Then proffesional doctors find out the condition and tells them what medicine is needed. Now lets get on with the activity. I have to list five things that my family and I do to stay healthy. Here they are.

  1. They buy healthy food. Ok lets be honest everyone at least has a treat once in a while. For all of our meals we have healthy food. (By meals I mean breakfast, lunch and dinner).
  2. We always clean the house. Every weekend we clean the whole house. I help out by cleaning my whole room with my sister. We organise everything and my mum and brother vacuum everything else.
  3. We stay hygenic. We do this by brushing our teeth every single morning and night. Every day we take a shower and then get into clean clothes.
  4. I exercise. We regulary exercise by running around and playing productive games.
  5. We wash our hands. Before we eat or after we've went to the toielt we always wash our hands. We make sure that there is no dirty things.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post. If you have any feedback please leave it in the comments. What do you do to stay healthy? BYE!!
